Volkswagen Tiguan Service and Repair Manual: Anti-Theft Alarm System

General Description:

The anti-theft alarm system functions are integrated in the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519-.

Malfunction Recognition and Malfunction Indicator:

Anti-theft alarm system is equipped with On Board Diagnostics (OBD) which assists troubleshooting.

Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "Guided Fault Finding".

The following inquiries and adaptations on the anti-theft alarm system can be performed:

  • Anti-theft alarm system alarm sources, checking
  • Anti-theft alarm delay when opening driver door, adapting
  • Interior monitoring sensitivity, adapting
  • Inclination sensor sensitivity, adapting
  • Market version for the intelligent alarm horn, adapting

Anti-Theft Alarm System, Checking and Adapting.

Anti-Theft Alarm System, Activating and Deactivating

Anti-Theft Alarm System, Activating: Anti-theft alarm system is automatically switched on by locking the vehicle. Anti-theft alarm system is then activated immediately.

Note

Close all windows and doors before locking the vehicle other the anti-theft alarm system will go off unnecessarily.

Anti-Theft Alarm System, Deactivating:

  • The anti-theft alarm system is deactivated when the vehicle is unlocked via the unlock button on the radio remote control.
  • OR: when the ignition is turned on with an authorized key.

Unlocking vehicle mechanically (emergency opening).

  • Lock the vehicle on the driver door.

Anti-theft alarm system remains activated, an alarm is triggered immediately after the driver door is opened.

  • Turn on the ignition to stop the alarm.

Note

By switching on the ignition, the electronic immobilizer recognizes a valid vehicle key and deactivates the anti-theft alarm system.

Interior Monitoring Deactivation Switch -E267-

Interior Monitoring Deactivation Switch -E267-, Removing and Installing

The Interior Monitoring Deactivation Switch -E267- contains the Vehicle Inclination Sensor Deactivation Button -E360- and is installed in the B-pillar trim panel on the driver side.

Interior Monitoring Sensor and Vehicle Inclination Sensor

Interior Monitoring Sensor and Vehicle Inclination Sensor, Removing and Installing

The Interior Monitoring Sensor -G273- and Vehicle Inclination Sensor -G384- are a single component in the roof console behind the interior lamp.

Note

The anti-theft alarm system must be deactivated to remove the Interior Monitoring Sensor -G273- and the Vehicle Inclination Sensor -G384-.

Removing

  • Deactivate the anti-theft alarm system.
  • Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.
  • Remove the front interior and reading lamp.
  • Unclip the sensor wires -1- from the guide.
  • Remove the sensors -1- from the front interior- and reading lamp.
  • Press the tabs in the direction of -arrow- and unclip the control module with the vehicle inclination sensor.
  • Remove the control module for the interior monitoring with the vehicle inclination sensor and the interior monitoring sensors from the interior lamp.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Central Locking and Anti-Theft Alarm System Antenna -R47-

Note

Additional information: Refer to → Wiring diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component locations

The Central Locking and Anti-Theft Alarm System Antenna -R47- receives radio signals from the remote control key and relays them to the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519-.

The Central Locking and Anti-Theft Alarm System Antenna -R47- is integrated inside the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519- and cannot be replaced separately.

Alarm Horn -H12-

Alarm Horn -H12-, Removing and Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Torque Wrench 1331 5-50Nm -VAG1331-

The Alarm Horn -H12- is located on the right side under the plenum chamber cover.

Note

If the Alarm Horn -H12- removed, then the anti-theft alarm system must be deactivated.

Removing

  • Remove the plenum chamber cover.
  • Release and disconnect the connector -1-. Remove the nut -3- and the alarm horn -2- from the bracket.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

  • Tighten the nut -3- to 20 Nm.

Alarm Horn -H12-, Checking

The Alarm Horn -H12- is located on the right side under the plenum chamber cover.

The Alarm Horn -H12- can be checked using Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519- output diagnostic test.

The following inquiries and adaptations can be made on the anti-theft alarm system:

  • Anti-theft alarm system alarm sources, checking
  • Anti-theft alarm delay when opening driver door, adapting
  • Interior monitoring sensitivity, adapting
  • Inclination sensor sensitivity, adapting
  • Market version for the intelligent alarm horn, adapting

Check and adapt the anti-theft alarm system using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
