Tools

Required Special Tools and Testing Equipment

Front Door Trim Panel, Removing and Installing

Note

The following describes the removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removing

  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Pry the handle molding upper section -1- at the upper end from the mount in the door trim, starting at the top and using the Trim Removal Wedge -3409-.
  • Pull the upper section -1- from the top downward out of its retainers and out of the lower mounting -2-.

  • Remove the two bolts -1- (4.5 Nm).
  • Remove the two bolts -2- (4.5 Nm).

Caution

When loosening the door trim panel, the mounting elements could be damaged. To prevent this, follow the specified location and sequence for the clip connections to be loosened when removing the door trim.

  • Remove the door trim from the brackets, in the -specified sequence-, using the Trim Release Lever - Wedge -T10039/1-.

Note

When removing the door trim, the bevel surface of the Trim Release Lever - Wedge -T10039/1- must point toward the door panel.

  • Pull the door trim panel -1-, vertically upward out of the window shaft.

  • On the inside of the door trim panel, pull the securing tab -1- outward.
  • Remove the release cable out of the guide to the rear.
  • Disengage the release cable -2- from the interior door mechanism.

  • Depending on vehicle equipment disconnect the wiring harness from the door trim panel and turn the Driver Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb -L146- or Front Passenger Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb -L147--1- approximately 90º to the left.
  • Remove the Driver Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb -L146- or Front Passenger Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb -L147- from the mount -2-.

Installing

  • Install in reverse order of removal.

Note

Before installing, inspect the clips for damage and replace if necessary.

Caution

Before installing the door trim panel, make sure the release mechanisms on all the clips are in the -1 position-.

It is not possible to install the door trim panel correctly if the clips are in the -2 position-.

Rear Door Trim Panel, Removing and Installing

Note

The following describes the removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removing

  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Pry the handle molding upper section -1- at the upper end from the mount in the door trim, starting at the top and using the Trim Removal Wedge -3409-.
  • Pull the upper section -1- from the top downward out of its retainers and out of the lower mounting -2-.

  • Remove the two bolts -1- (4.5 Nm).
  • Remove the bolt -2- (4.5 Nm).

Caution

When loosening the door trim panel, the mounting elements could be damaged. To prevent this, follow the specified location and sequence for the clip connections to be loosened when removing the door trim.

  • Remove the door trim from the brackets, in the -specified sequence-, using the Trim Release Lever - Wedge -T10039/1-.

Note

When removing the door trim, the bevel surface of the Trim Release Lever - Wedge -T10039/1- must point toward the door panel.

  • Pull the door trim panel -1-, vertically upward out of the window shaft.

  • On the inside of the door trim panel, pull the securing tab -1- outward.
  • Remove the release cable out of the guide to the rear.
  • Disengage the release cable -2- from the interior door mechanism.
  • Depending on vehicle equipment, disconnect the wiring harnesses from the door trim panel.

Installing

  • Install in reverse order of removal.

Note

Before installing, inspect the clips for damage and replace if necessary.

Caution

Before installing the door trim panel, make sure the release mechanisms on all the clips are in the -1 position-.

It is not possible to install the door trim panel correctly if the clips are in the -2 position-.

Door Trim Panel Cover, Removing and Installing

Note

The following describes the removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removing

  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Remove the front door trim.

  • Pry door trim panel cover -1- out of the mounts in inner door panel using the Trim Removal Wedge -3409-.

Installing

Note

Before the assembly, check the fasteners for damage and replace if necessary.

  • Install in reverse order of removal.
